At YouTube and Google, we understand that when people use our services, they are trusting us with their information.
We adhere to Google’s privacy principles, which means we build products that are private by design and are thoughtful about the data we use, how we use it, and how we protect it. Any data we collect to customize our services for users, including personalized recommendations, search results that help them more easily discover creators they love, content that meets their needs, and serving relevant ads are all controlled by a user within their privacy settings.
This allows users to select what is right for them, so they are in control of the personal information shared with Google - including reviewing their data, downloading and moving it to another service, or deleting it entirely whenever they want. Google’s privacy policies keep users informed about what data we collect, how it’s used, and why. And we never sell a user's personal information to anyone.
Our privacy tools are easy to use and empower our users to choose the experience that works for them.
Your data in YouTube is a feature that makes it easier for users to understand and control what data is saved, and how it is used on the platform and across Google. It gives them quick access to YouTube privacy controls, such as allowing signed-in users to clear their search history, remove individual search entries from search suggestions, or pause search history using the YouTube history settings. This allows users to optimize their experience on the platform and decide what personal information is used to influence recommendations.
We also offer Incognito mode, which lets users signed into the YouTube app browse privately in a session so that their account search and watch history will not reflect whatever they’re viewing.
With Ad Settings, users can see what information is being used to personalize ads to them, turn any of it on or off, or deactivate personalized ads altogether. They’ll still see ads, but they’ll most likely be less relevant.
We do not serve personalized ads to users under 18.
